    FAQ

1 Who can become a member of SIBB e.V.?

Companies in the software, information and communications industry (ICT) that are based or operate in Berlin-Brandenburg can become full members. Business associations with a connection to the industry are also eligible.
Organizations or individuals who do not meet all the criteria for full membership but wish to support the goals of the association can become supporting members.
Honorary memberships are awarded to individuals who have rendered outstanding services to the industry.

2 How does the admission process work?

Interested parties must submit a written application for membership to the Board of Directors or the management.
    This must include

    • Name and legal form of the company
    • Address or registered office
    • Authorized representatives
    • Number of employees in Germany
    • The Board of Directors decides on admission (delegated to the management if necessary).

    3. what does membership cost?

The amount of the admission fee and the annual membership fee is based on the number of employees (full-time equivalent) employed in Germany at the beginning of the calendar year.
    Example:

    • up to 9 MA: 225 € admission fee + 450 € annual fee
    • over 1000 MA: 1800 € admission fee + 3600 € annual fee
(For all scales see contribution regulations)

    4. are there special regulations for young companies or start-ups?

    Yes!
For companies that have been in existence for less than 2 years:
In the first year of membership, only the admission fee is payable. The regular annual membership fee is only due from the second year onwards.

5 When are the contributions payable?

The membership fee is due annually on January 1.
In the year of joining, the fee is calculated pro rata from the quarter in which you join. Example: If you join in July, you pay 50% of the annual membership fee.

    6. how long does the membership run for and how can I cancel?

    Membership runs indefinitely.
Termination is possible at the end of the year with a notice period of three months and must be sent by registered letter to the Board of Directors or the management.

7 What happens in the event of resignation or exclusion?

Membership expires upon resignation or expulsion. Contributions or fees already paid will not be refunded. There is no entitlement to shares in the association's assets.

    8. do supporting members and honorary members have voting rights?

No. Only ordinary members have the right to vote at the General Meeting. Supporting members and honorary members can participate in an advisory capacity, but cannot vote.

9 How is the SIBB organized?

The most important bodies of the association are

    • the General Meeting (highest body)
    • The Management Board

Other structures include the management, an advisory board and working groups. All volunteers receive reimbursement of expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Expenses Act.
