Cybersecurity Launchpad 2025 launched - researchers from all over Europe develop their ideas further

The Cybersecurity Launchpad, part of the SPIN:RISE program, initiated by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and implemented by SIBB e.V., has started its new round with a successful online kick-off on October 8 and 9, 2025.

Over 20 selected researchers from universities and research institutions in Germany, Greece, Portugal, Latvia, Finland, France, Belgium, Romania, Hungary and Sweden took part in the kick-off sessions. Together, they are pursuing the goal of translating their research in the fields of cybersecurity, data protection and trustworthy AI into marketable applications.

From research to practice

The Cybersecurity Launchpad is a nine-week hybrid program that supports researchers in the entrepreneurial development of their scientific projects. The focus is on practical workshops on topics such as business model development, protection and use of intellectual property and market validation.

The online phase in October and November will be followed by a three-day bootcamp in Berlin from December 3 to 5, 2025, where participants will meet industry experts, investors and representatives of the Berlin cybersecurity ecosystem.

Strong start with practical impulses

To kick things off, two experts shared their experiences:

  • Brett Ortgiesen, founder and cybersecurity entrepreneur, spoke about the journey from research to start-up and the challenges of building a business in this area.
  • Maria Ksenia Witte, start-up coach and communications expert, led a session on developing your own start-up perspective and sharing ideas within the group.

The participants got to know each other in interactive group exercises and gained initial insights into the program content, a successful start to the coming weeks.

Next stop: Berlin Bootcamp

Weekly online workshops on topics such as entrepreneurship basics, IP strategy, stakeholder management and financing options will follow until December.

At the Berlin Bootcamp, participants deepen their knowledge in practical sessions, work on individual project goals and make contacts with leading representatives of the cybersecurity community in Berlin.

The Cybersecurity Launchpad is organized by SIBB e.V. and is part of SPIN:RISE, a European initiative initiated by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and implemented by 28Digital.
