SIBB goes India

Tue, Mar. 24, 2026

Bengaluru, India

single: text module

Berlin has opened an overseas office in the Indian IT hub of Bengaluru. The SIBB attended the opening ceremony alongside Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey and promoted Berlin’s tech and startup scene. With over 25,000 IT companies, Bengaluru is considered India’s Silicon Valley and a global hub for IT, software development, startups, and international tech corporations.

The new “Berlin Business Office India” serves as a point of contact for Berlin-based companies and startups looking to enter the Indian market. It is also designed to support Indian tech companies and startups in establishing a presence in Berlin.

With a population of more than 1.45 billion, India is the world’s most populous country and, as the fourth-largest economy, an important trading partner for Germany and Berlin. Exports from the German capital to India rose by more than 20 percent in 2025; last year, goods worth more than 170 million euros were exported from Berlin to India.

The opening of the Berlin office follows the free trade agreement reached between the EU and India in January, which serves as a symbol of economic openness and cooperation amid geopolitical tensions. SIBB is committed to a livable digital future in which cooperation and diversity are central.
