The Deep Tech Award was established by SIBB, the Digital Association Berlin-Brandenburg, in collaboration with the Berlin Senate Department for Economics. From the outset, the aim was to create a visible flagship for Berlin-based technology companies and to recognize outstanding deep tech innovations from the capital region.
In the early years from 2015 to 2021, SIBB took on the role of main project partner and largely ran the competition on its own. Its tasks included approaching and recruiting applicants, organizing the award ceremony, and providing communications support for the award, including publicizing the winning companies.
With the continued growth and increasing importance of the Deep Tech Award, the project implementation was professionalized by the Senate Department for Economics. From 2021 and in the following years, the Senate Department for Economics took over the operational implementation.
SIBB remains closely associated with the Deep Tech Award and continues to act as a strong partner within the project. The association thus remains an active part of Berlin's deep tech ecosystem and supports the visibility and networking of innovative technology companies in the region.
