The joint project "Stadt-Land-Fluss" (data and AI-supported development and strengthening of value chains in the area of regional food systems), or SLF for short, is researching the strengthening of the regional food system by developing digital data platforms for economic and nutritional data using artificial intelligence (AI) methods.
Consumers want more regional products and more transparency when shopping. Regional producers, in turn, need more information about their customers' needs and purchasing behavior. In order to improve the supply of regional food and strengthen the regional economy, the project aims to create transparency along food value chains. This should lead to greater sustainability and efficiency in the long term. Consumers, suppliers and producers will be networked via a prototypical, digital, interoperable, transferable and scalable platform for nutritional data in the Berlin-Brandenburg region, thereby matching supply and demand. The regional aspect is particularly important to the project partners: The region, municipalities and consumers are to be involved.
In the Stadt-Land-Fluss project, the partners are investigating how the existing 'data gap' in the regional food system can be filled using modern information technology and selected artificial intelligence tools. The development of suitable tools is intended to strengthen the urban-rural relationship and contribute to transparency and transformation towards a sustainable food system in the long term.
In the "Stadt-Land-Fluss Projekt", ten consortium partners are working together under the "coordination" of Fraunhofer FOKUS and are supported by other supporters and associated partners.
